CommunityGuidelines

How we keep CatsDojo a productive space for serious builders

Community guidelines

Cats Dojo LLC may, from time to time, host small private builder discussions through CatsDojo. Where it does, these guidelines describe how we expect participants to engage.

Core Principles

Four simple rules that define our community

1

Ship First, Talk Later

Don't tell us what you're going to build. Show us what you've built. Ideas are worthless without execution.

  • ✓ Share launched products
  • ✓ Post actual metrics
  • ✓ Discuss real problems
  • ✗ No "stealth mode" BS
  • ✗ No idea validation posts
2

Be Helpful, Not Promotional

Every post should help someone else succeed. Self-promotion kills communities.

  • ✓ Share what worked
  • ✓ Share what failed
  • ✓ Provide actionable advice
  • ✗ No link dropping
  • ✗ No "check out my thing"
3

Keep It Real

We're allergic to buzzwords and corporate speak. Talk like a human.

  • ✓ Use plain English
  • ✓ Share real numbers
  • ✓ Admit failures
  • ✗ No growth hacking
  • ✗ No thought leadership
4

Respect Privacy

What's shared in CatsDojo stays in CatsDojo. Trust is everything.

  • ✓ Keep discussions private
  • ✓ Ask before sharing
  • ✓ Respect NDAs
  • ✗ No screenshots outside
  • ✗ No name dropping

Community Standards

Specific rules to keep the quality high

✅ Good Posts

  • "We grew from 100 to 1000 users in 30 days. Here's exactly what we did..."
  • "Our product launch failed. Here are the 3 mistakes we made..."
  • "Looking for feedback on our onboarding flow [includes Loom video]"
  • "Anyone dealt with [specific technical problem]? Here's what I've tried..."

❌ Bad Posts

  • "I have a billion dollar idea. Looking for a technical co-founder..."
  • "Check out my new product [link]"
  • "10 tips for growth hacking your startup 🚀"
  • "Anyone want to connect? I'm building in stealth..."

Content Guidelines

  • • Follow up with results
  • • Thank people for help

Feedback

  • • Be constructive

Enforcement

We take these guidelines seriously

⚠️ First Violation

Private warning from moderators. We'll explain what went wrong and how to fix it.

🚫 Second Violation

7-day timeout. Take a break and come back when you're ready to contribute positively.

👋 Third Violation

Permanent removal. We're not a good fit for each other.

🚨 Immediate Removal

Some things result in instant bans:

  • • Sharing private conversations
  • • Harassment or abuse
  • • Spam or mass promotion
  • • Violating someone's NDA
  • • Being a jerk

The Bottom Line

Be helpful. Be honest. Be human.
If you wouldn't say it at a dinner with other founders, don't say it here.
